Condition of neurodevelopmental origin that mainly affects the ease with which a person reads, writes, and spells, typically recognized as a specific learning disorder in children.
Our Mission
How you learn is as important as what you learn. One out of five people are neurodivergent, but many go undiagnosed. In school, this can affect students’ self esteem and mental health, and lead to prolonged stress and frustration with themselves. The term “learning disability” is a misnomer, because neurodivergent people do not have an inability to learn. They simply need to learn how they learn.
Both a 2010 study by Yale’s Center for Dyslexia and Creativity and a 2011 study by Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) found that dyslexia has zero correlation with IQ score.
DyslexiaStrength is a non-profit initiative dedicated to helping students identify signs of neurodivergence, increasing diagnoses, and connecting neurodivergent students with resources and learning strategies. Through storytelling, we also aim to inspire students to embrace their neurodivergence as something to celebrate instead of ashamed about.
